Triad Signs Expansive Elevator Renovation Project at the TowneBank Building
Triad Signs' 3M-Licensed DI-NOC™ Installers are Among Only a Few in North Carolina While elevators are a seemingly small component of a corporate building’s square footage, refurbishing them can be costly, time-consuming, and disruptive. A project doesn’t have to follow that pattern. An innovative architectural film called DI-NOC, which has been revolutionizing surfaces for more than half a century, is now the modern go-to for interior and exterior renovations — particularly elevator facelifts. |
The Challenge
Corporate interior design firm PC&A Business Environments has been assisting TowneBank with upgrades and renovations in the bank’s historic, downtown office building. Not only is the building older, with historic character to preserve, it is also a multi-story facility that is shared with another tenant. Renovations to the building’s elevators had to preserve the building’s classic style, be non-disruptive, and have a small footprint. The Solution PC&A had previously used a wood-grain film called DI-NOC, made by 3M, in renovating their own Charlotte office. DI-NOC is an architectural film that closely replicates both the look and feel of wood, and other surfaces. PC&A felt it would be a good solution for TowneBank’s project, so they reached out to Triad Signs, which has two full-time licensed DI-NOC installers on staff. The team’s professionals are among only a handful of licensed installers in the state of North Carolina. This is advantageous to clients because the 3M guarantees a 10-year warranty of the DI-NOC product. |
The Results
Using metallic silver and brushed gold DI-NOC, the Triad Signs team refurbished TowneBank's elevators with a fresh, classic look. Plus, both the bank and the building’s other tenant easily maintained regular operations throughout the process. The total project budget amounted to only a fraction of a full-scale elevator renovation. Additional Benefits Because the DI-NOC material doesn’t alter the elevator weight, no decommissions or re-inspections are necessary post-installation. Additionally, the fire grade remains the same. Another significant benefit to the client is that the use of DI-NOC, which is a recyclable, reduced-waste product, creates opportunities for LEED credits.
